PROBLEM OF THE (3^rd) QUARTER: “Enjoy yourself playing Asteroids- the Arcade classic. But don’t just play, LEARN. Analyze the movement of the space shuttle and discuss the physical principles involved, including graphs of the shuttle’s velocity, acceleration, momentum, and force.”

THE GAME (Asteroids)

DIRECTIONS:

1.) Go here to download the Video Screen Capturer which will record you accelerating your space shuttle in asteroids (I recommend clearing out all asteroids but one little rock so you have space to move).

2.) Record yourself accelerating to full speed for a little bit, end recording.

3.) Convert your .avi file into an .mpg file using THIS program

4.) Now, open up Videopoint to analyze the converted video file.

5.) Input correct mass and height values for the shuttle (Can be obtained here)

6.) Correctly Analyze and graph the data using the program

7.) When done, reward yourself with this picture of Mr. Young’s Dog.
