1. FIRST YOU NEED A TI-83        

  

I KNOW THE PICTURE IS PRETTY BAD BUT IT IS ALL MR. YOUNG'S FAULT.
 

NEXT YOU NEED A SCATTER PLOT SO YOU CAN TELL WHAT MODEL IT IS. IF YOU NEED HELP MAKING A SCATTER PLOT AND YOU'RE LOOKING HERE THEN YOU'RE #%* BECAUSE I AM TELLING YOU HOW TO DO A QUICK BUBBLE BABY.   
 

WELL SAY THAT YOU HAVE A SCATTER PLOT AND YOU THINK IT IS LINEAR REGRESSION  (AX+B).
 

NOW PAY ATTENTION CAUSE WE ARE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON A MAGICAL RIDE THROUGH THE WONDROUS WORLD OF MATHEMATICS. YEAH RIGHT
 
 
 
 

2.  FIRST YOU NEED TO HIT THE STAT BUTTON ON YOUR CALC.  GO OVER TO THE CALC MENU AND SELECT THE MODEL YOU THINK IT IS.  ONCE YOU HAVE SELECTED YOUR MODEL HIT ENTER.  DUHH!
 

YOU SHOULD SEE THIS ON YOUR CALC

LinReg(ax+b)

3. NEXT TELL IT WHERE YOU PUT THE X VALUES.  (most of the time it is in L1)    SO YOU NEED TO HIT 2nd and L1. (that's the #1 key)

YOUR CALC SHOULD NOW HAVE THIS DISPLAYED
                                    LinReg(ax+b)  L1
 

NEXT INSERT A COMMA (RIGHT ABOVE THE 7 KEY)
 

4. THEN TELL IT WHERE THE Y VALUES ARE.  (in L2 usually)

THIS SHOULD BE DISPLAYED.

REMEMBER THE COMMA!

5.   NOW YOU NEED TO TELL THE CALC WHERE YOU WANT IT TO STICK THE EQUATION.   FOR THE SAKE OF CONFORMITY WE WILL USE

                                                                               Y1.
 

6.  PUSH THE VARS BUTTON, TAB OVER TO Y--VARS,  SELECT FUNCTION, THEN SELECT THE PLACE YOU WANT THE EQUATION
                                            Y1--Y0

YOUR CALC SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS
                        LinReg(ax+b)  L1,L2,Y1

7.   NOW HIT ENTER.  YOU SHOULD SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS
                    LinReg
                    y=ax+b
                    a=140  (your # will be different)
                    b=-97   (once again your # will be different)

8.  NOW YOU NEED TO HIT THE Y= BUTTON

AND ONE OF YOUR LINES SHOULD HAVE A BUNCH OF GOBBLEYGOOK.

THIS IS YOUR EQUATION DO NOT.  I REPEAT DO NOT ERASE THIS.

9.  MOVE OVER BEHIND THE Y= AND KEEP PUSHING ENTER UNTIL YOU HAVE A BUBBLE BABY.  IT LOOKS LIKE THIS  O-
HIT ENTER AND IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT MODEL YOUR BUBBLE BABY WILL TRACE THE LINE EXACTLY.

SIMPLY RIGHT DOWN YOUR EQUATION AND THAT'S IT YOUR DONE.

IF THE BB DOES NOT TRACE THE LINE THEN YOU NEED TO PICK A DIFFERENT MODEL.  REPEAT STEP 2.
