The Big 7
This page is to identify the big 7 and show how to solve them on your calculator, and in your head.  ther is acually only 6 of them concidering that 2 of them are the same thing. We use the big 7 to break down lots of data.

     mean---------median---------mode---------average-----------range---------min---------max

mean= find the average of the set of data.

median= it is the number that is in the middle after the data has been sorted.

mode= the number that is repeated the most.

average= find the average of the set of data.

range= this is the beginning number and last number of the data.

min= (minimum) the smallest number of the data.

max= (maximum) the largest number of the data.

how to find them on your hand!!!

mean & average= you have to add all the numbers up and divide them by how many #'s you have.

mode= look at them carefully and decide which # occurs the most.

range=  look at the smallest # and the largest #.

min=  look at the smallest #.

max= look at the largest #.

median=  sort out the list in order from smallest to largest and cancel out the smallest then the largest, and
repeat it until you get the # that is in the middle.  if there are 2 #s add them up and divide
                                      by 2.

to do them on a calculator!!!

mean & average= "2nd""0" then scroll down to mean and hit "enter". then "2nd""stat" then click on the list you want to use, and then hit "enter".

mode=  sort out your data and divide it by 2 the # you get will be your mode.

range=  your max and min.

min & max=   "stat""2""2nd""list" then click on the list you want to use. then find the biggest # and the smallest number.

median=   follow the same directions as the mean but you scroll down to median instead of mean.

examples!!!

2,4,6,8,10 is the list we will use.

mean- add 2+4+6+8+10 and you get 30. and then divide it by how many numbers there are.  30/5=6 the mean is 6

median- since its in order already you take off the 2, then the10,then the 4, then the 8, and 6 is your median.

mode- since ther is no # that occurs more than once there is no mode.

min-  2 is the smallest # so it is the min.

max-  10 is the largest # so it is the max.

range-the range is 2-10

i have put some webpages together for you. you have to click on one of the car makers and decide the car you like best and collect the data of the milage and the price of the cars and compare them to other cars that you like.

my name is frankie navarro and this is my webpage for mr.youngs(DAY) class. i'm in his 6th hour and i did this for a grade in our portfolio. i know your thinking that we dont use this sort of stuff in the real world but we actually do. yeah i was shocked too. you use when we compare car prices and milage between to sports car.
