AlgConn Update for the week of March 6, 2000 30. Journal Prompt for the Week of March 6, 2000: What mathematics course did you select for next year? Why? Your 3rd Nine Weeks Portfolio is due Thursday, March 16, 2000 by 2:30 PM. This Portfolio should have the Checklist in the front, and then the 7 items, in order, including the Complete Journal Writings (1-31). Each item should have a unique Cover Instrument (CI). Then in the back you should have the 3rd Nine Weeks Pre-Portfolio, followed by the 2nd Nine Weeks Portfolio followed by the 1st Nine Weeks Portfolio, and then the 1st Nine Weeks Pre-Portfolio, in order. Your entire 3rd Nine Weeks grade will come from this Portfolio. It might be wise to have me look at one or two items in your Portfolio before you finish it. Most people now "understand" the Portfolio, so you could also check with your classmates to see how they are doing it. Don't forget that the Ability to Test Item must be the 3rd Nine Weeks Examination, and to get the full value of this item, which is 30% of your grade, you must Correct the items you missed, and Reflect on why you missed each item. All items in this Portfolio should come from the Fodder list (below). Place the Portfolio IN MY HAND when you are finished with it. You may build your Pre-Portfolio using the following Fodder: * Journal (writes 1-31). * 3rd Nine Weeks Examination with Corrections and Reflections - Your Ability to Test. * Solving Factored Equations (worksheet with the Rule, and the Calculator used). * Quiz on Un-FOILing. * Page 296, #6 from the book. * Ball Bounce II. * Pages 295 (1-4), and 305-306 (1-9). * Your Algebraic Connections Web Page - See guidelines. * Other work from AlgConn as you think appropriate (and approved by me). and as many as 2 from the following list: * Dueling Histograms * Ball Bounce I * Performance Assessment FALL99 * TI on the Web * FOILING with Mr. Young * Quiz on FOILing This week: # Get me to sign your Course Selection sheet before March 9th. # Take the 3rd Nine Weeks Examination. # Go to Lab II (aka Lab III) on Thursday to finish your Examination. # Go to Lab I (aka Library Annex) on Friday to finish your Examination and start work on your Portfolio. # Write in your Journal. # Continue work from the book.
