AlgConn Update for the week of October 11, 1999 10. Journal Prompt for the Week of October 11, 1999: What about Algebraic Connections would you like to change? Keep the same? Why? Your 1st Nine Weeks Portfolio was due Friday October 8, 1999. If you turned it in, you may pick it up on Monday, and start examining it. Give me the Ability to Test item (CI, the test, your corrections, and reflections) on Monday if you have not yet done so. If you failed to turn in your Portfolio on Friday, you may turn it in on Monday for the 7% discount (your score will be reduced by 7% for each day it is late). Remember to place it in my hand, and to organize it as previously instructed. When you have your complete 1st 9 weeks Portfolio back, please do the following: Examine each item, and discover why you made the scores that you did, on each item. Compare item by item your Pre-Portfolio and 1st 9 weeks Portfolio scores. Calculate your grade and email me the value that you get. This value (if correct) will be your 1st 9 weeks grade. You may correct any score lower than a "2" if you do so by the end of the day on Wednesday, Oct. 13. Place a note in the front of your Portfolio, indicating which items you would like me to re-grade and place the entire Portfolio in my hand. This will be the last time this school year such an opportunity will be offered. When you are finished with your Portfolio, give it to me for safe keeping, or keep it yourself, but recall that the next Portfolio should contain the 2nd 9 weeks Portfolio, and the 1st 9 weeks Portfolio, and the PrePortfolio. Recall that your TOTAL grade in this class for the 1st 9 weeks (40% of your semester grade) comes entirely from the 1st 9 weeks Portfolio. You MUST turn in this Portfolio to pass the class. This week: # Turn in you Ability to Test Portfolio item Monday (CI, Test, Corrections, Reflections). # Start the Fodder for the next Portfolio. # Write in your Journal. # Correct any 1st 9 weeks portfolio item scoring less than 2 and turn in by the end of Wednesday (10-13). # If you don't have a Graphing Calculator, you need to get one. # Go over Examination I. # Please note that the announcements have a listing of which computer labs are open and when, and where you can locate Graph Links to use around the building. If you have questions or need some help, please see me, or one of your fellow students. See the Syllabus for information on how to get outside of class help.
