Export My Data
Algebra 1

You will need the data sent to you by Mr. Young from the Crab Experiment (http://www.math.arizona.edu/~dsl/datapr04.htm).

Using Pegasus Mail:

  1. Open the message from Mr. Young and locate the list names (*.83l, or L*.82l). Highlight the lists of interest and select the SAVE option. Place these files in your folder on ECS1. This will be part of the investigation products (the two lists stored on your folder and later emailed back to me).

Using the Link Cable (note limited supply):

  1. Open the Graph Link software for the TI that you are using and Link so that the data can be transmitted to your calculator. Place these in your calculator for additional analysis. Save these in a program that you write on your calculator and then send the program to your folder on ECS1. This file should have an extension of .83p, or .82p, and will be emailed to me as part of your investigation.
  2. You may be on your own workstation without the Graph Link for this part. Open your 2 lists and remove the header by deleting the //NAME and any spaces before the first data points. Save these data list as Text Files with an extension of .DAT. You should now have two more files in your ECS1 folder (Lone.DAT and Ltwo.DAT). These will also be products from this investigation.

Using Graphical Analysis:

  1. With the Graph Link cable: Move to the Graphical Analysis program under Vernier on the Start Program Menu. Select File, Import from TI Calculator…, Select Port (if needed). Send the lists to the Computer, like linking between two calculators. You are now finished with the link cable, but not with the software. You have three windows. Write information in the Text Window, and click on the Graph Window to change the options. Select any options that you like, but report them in the Text Window. Select Analyze and Automatic Curve fit from the Graph Window. Select the Model that you think is represented (Linear, Quadratic, or Exponential). Select File and save this file on your ECS1 folder, giving it a file name. This file will be part of the lab report. Include in your summary the name of the file and associate it with this section. Note: You may also copy and paste the data from the Graph Link into GA.

Using Excel:

  1. Open Excel and select under the File Menu the Open option. Open the two lists that you saved as .DAT from the Graph Link. You will need to change the File Name option to *.* to see these files. Copy the column for the Y-Data and Paste into the other file in the B column. Add a title to each column. Use the ChartLizard to create a graph of the data in the spreadsheet with the Trend line (with the display of the regression equation). Save this file as an Excel file (.XLS). You might want to adjust the width of the columns to see all the numbers. Save this file to email to me as part of the investigation.

Using Word:

  1. In Word Create a Table and import the data into a two-column table. Include some text to identify the data, and the experience.

Using Pegasus Mail:

  1. In Pegasus Mail Compose a message to me that will include the two lists of data, the program to hold the list, your GA, Excel file, and your Word document. Send it to me and CC yourself.
