In this particular movie, the camera is manned by a motor instead of a human (good thing, since the bus left without it..leaving it on the moon forever!). It is set to track the module as it launches away from the moon.

You will actually make three passes at this movie, one to locate the position of the lunar module, one to locate a moving origin (fixed point in the moon's reference frame) and a third to set a different scale factor for each frame, to account for the zooming camera.

  • Open VideoPoint
  • Open the movie "NASA003.MOV" from the CD (in the "Movies" folder)
  • Type in "1" when prompted for the number of items to follow on the movie and click "OK"
  • Play the movie a few times to get an idea of what is going on
