How To Build A Portfolio!!!!!!

Hi! Our names are Jennifer, Taylor, and Laura. We attend Fayetteville High School. We are making a webpage to show you how to put together a portfolio for Algebraic Connections. The portfolio is your main grade in the class. If you don't do it, you fail the class. And you don't WANT that now DO you?! Hehehe I didn't think so. Ok now on to how you build your portfolio! Follow us!

To start off you need to do ALL your work that you are asigned (or at least 7 items). The first portfolio may take a couple hours to put together, but if you use this webpage then it will help you save time because all you have to do is follow the directions we give you on this page! Now on to the directions!!!!

   Overarching Process
Ok! Now for this part you will need one of the items of the 4 items which include: Reasoning and Problem Solving, Communication, Connecting, and Internalization. This is 10% of you grade on the portfolio.  Here is one example!

7 Systematic Parts of Algebraic Connections
Ok! Now for this one you will need to choose from the 7 Systematic parts which include: Linear Models, Applications, Discrete Mathematics, Statistics, Probability, Quadratic, and Exponentional Models, Other Functional Models. This is another 10% of your grade on the portfolio. Here is one example!

Your Ablility To Test
Ok! On this one you will need and examination or quiz that you think is fot for this section. Some advice: you should use a test that you think you did good on and that shows that you know what you are doing. This is 30% of your grade on the portfolio. Sorry! There's no example for this! Hehe you don't need one! You know what an examination and a quiz look like!

Working With Technology
Ok! Now with this one you need something that shows you can work with technology (i.e. calculator and/or computer). You just need to show your involvment with technology and that you understand how to work with it. This is another 10% of your grade on your portfolio. Here is one example!

Growth
Ok! Now on this you will need something that shows your growth in mathematics and in learning. It could be and example of your best learning experience, some written communication relating to to a particular investigation, in the context of growth, or other work that you see fit for this section. This is another 10% of your grade on your portfolio. You don't need an example for this because this is for you to decide. It's your opinion!

Webpage/Free Choice
Ok! During the school year you are to make a webpage, very much like this one, for your portfolio. So this is an example of that. For the free choice that is whatever you would like to put in your portfolio. Yes! It IS another choice for YOU, the student, to make! This is 20% of your grade on the portfolio.

Journal
Ok! Now for your journal  you have to put your responses to the journal prompts that Mr. Young e-mails you. You can write them or you can print them from your e-mail. It's your choice, again, on what you want to do with this. This is yet ANOTHER 10% of your grade on your porfolio. Here is an example!

 EXAMPLE:
32. Journal Prompt for the Week of March 27, 2000:
What mathematics did you do over Spring Break?
Your response:
I had to figure you how much money that I needed to go to Little Rock. I had to figure how how much I needed for gas, food, and accessories.

Now! Every section needs a Cover Instrument (CI). There is a link for this down below. You will also need a Check List at the beginning of your portfolio. You will use it all year. The Check List keeps your grades and the points that you made on each section documented. There is a link below on how to calculate your grades. Now if you need any help the links below may help you. If they don't then ask Mr. Young or e-mail Mr Young. The link to his e-mail adress is below as well! We hope we helped you build your portfolio! Have a great year!
